OB Engineering Group was engaged following a directive from the City of Port Adelaide Enfield to assess the structural adequacy of a deteriorating brick balustrade and associated masonry. The site, home to the Port Adelaide Backpackers, presented multiple structural concerns including fretted brickwork, cracked mortar joints, and corroded reinforcement within the balcony balustrade and support piers. A detailed inspection and engineering report were provided, identifying the extent of the damage, probable causes, and remedial recommendations to ensure safety and compliance with Australian Standards.
