Project Brief
OB Engineering Group was engaged to undertake a forensic structural assessment of a 120-year-old timber workshop located in Broken Hill, New South Wales. The assessment was carried out in accordance with Australian Standards and involved a detailed site inspection of truss and column members to document structural defects and material degradation.
The scope extended to an analysis of the building’s forensic structural adequacy against the National Construction Code (NCC) and relevant Australian Standards, with findings used to develop recommendations for remedial works. Where required, new or replacement timber and steel members were designed to restore performance, supported by engineering drawings, calculations, and sketches prepared for builder reference.
This project provided the client with a structural assessment of the existing structure and practical solutions for repair and reinforcement. The outcome ensures that the heritage and industrial workshop can continue to operate safely while maintaining compliance with current standards.
